Director of the Republic of Srpska Tax Administration Goran Maričić is participating at the Regional Summit of Finance Ministers, Governors and Tax Administration Directors, which is being held today and tomorrow in Bečići, organized by the Serbian Association of Economists and under the auspices of the Ministry of Finance, the Central Bank and the Tax Administration of Montenegro.
The theme of this year’s Summit, which includes separate panels of ministers of finance, central bank governors and directors of tax administrations of countries in the region, is „Financial and Monetary Stability of the Region in Conditions of Weak Economic Growth in the Eurozone”.
Director Maričić participated in the panel titled “Reform and Modernization of Tax Authorities – Goal, Reach and Limits”. In addition to the director Maričić, the participants in this panel were also the acting director of the Tax Administration of Montenegro, Mr. Sava Laketić, director of the Indirect Taxation Administration of BiH, Mr. Zoran Tegeltija, director of the Tax Administration of FBiH, Mr. Šerif Isović, director of the Tax Administration of Kosovo*, Mr. Ilir Murtezaj, assistant director of the Tax Administration of Serbia, Mr. Miroslav Đinović, assistant director of the Customs Administration of Northern Macedonia, Mr. Anastas Mazhenkovski and Mr. Goran Pekez, the JTI’s director of corporate affairs and communications for the Western Balkans.
Participants within this panel talked about the key challenges imposed on tax administrations of countries in the region, emphasizing the importance of efficient tax administration for the stability of public finances. They discussed about reforms and modernization of tax administrations, as well as the common regional cooperation in the fight against the grey economy and tax evasion. Moreover, they talked about the achievements of the institutions in the field of digitization, as well as the importance of the partnership between taxpayers and tax administrations.
In his discourse, director Maričić stated that the Tax Administration of the Republic of Srpska has done a lot in the field of digitization of business processes during the previous years, including the ongoing transition to a new fiscalization system in Srpska, and emphasized the importance of timely data exchange and cooperation with tax administrations of other countries.
„This is seen as a conditio sine qua non for the operation of modern-day tax administrations and for the successful fight against the grey economy,” director Maričić stated.
