Goran Maričić, director of the Tax Administration of the Republic of Srpska, attended today the meeting of the directors of BiH tax administrations, which was held at the premises of the Indirect Taxation Authority (ITA) in Banja Luka. In addition to the host, Zoran Tegeltija, director of the ITA BiH, the meeting was attended by Šerif Isović, director of the FBiH Tax Administration and Janja Geljić, director of the Brčko District Finance Directorate.
The talking points at the joint meeting included exchange of information in the area of direct and indirect taxation, as well as other topical issues in the realm of tax administration in BiH. Continuously good cooperation and information exchange between the four tax administrations in BiH is of vital importance for the revenue collection pertaining to indirect and direct taxes. The meeting participants also discussed the improvement of services for all taxpayers in BiH, as the satisfaction of service users is very important for all tax administrations in BiH.
After this meeting, a Project Steering Committee meeting was held between the Swedish Tax Agency and all four tax administrations in BiH. The project’s timeframe spans the period from July 2021 to the end of June 2024 and its purpose is to support the tax administrations to become more modern, trustworthy and helpful. The Project is organized around five components: Change the Mindset, Taxpayer Service, Compliance Risk Management, BEPS and Global Forum, and Audit Training for Inspectors. The cooperation between the Swedish Tax Agency (STA) and all four tax administrations in Bosnia and Herzegovina is focused on developing the skills of employees, as well as building capacity by using a two-way mentoring methodology coupled with the training of trainers segment.
