This year’s Annual Conference brought together the commissioners of IOTA member tax administrations along with the representatives of international organizations, the business community and academic society, to foster a debate on “Building a hybrid tax administration for greater agility and resilience in a changing world”.
A particular focus of the IOTA Annual Conference was on: developing a hybrid strategy that would work for everybody, major organizational elements of the hybrid organization, aligning the organization’s setup with customer expectations and re-considering the organizational capabilities. Moreover, the discussions involved the hybrid work models, such as digitalization, advantages and disadvantages of a hybrid organization and measuring the results of a hybrid transformation.
Director Maričić said that this event has offered a unique opportunity for like-minded tax administration directors, senior officials, tax professionals through insightful case presentations and engaging panel discussions to share practical ideas with impact so that tax administrations are not only well prepared but more importantly well equipped to deal with today’s challenges and face tomorrow with confidence.
“The conference provided an opportunity to present the RS Tax Administration, its digital achievements, but also all the activities which were undertaken during the Corona virus pandemic to meet the needs of the taxpayers during those challenging times. Furthermore, we highlighted the activities that were undertaken to simplify operational administrative procedures which made us join the ranks of developed European tax administrations”, Maričić said.
The conference participants stated that as heads of the tax administrations, IOTA member directors faced challenges no leader had ever faced before. “The way tax authorities work and interact with taxpayers has changed forever. Now the heads of IOTA member tax administrations need to lead their organizations through disruption and ensure it has the agility and resilience needed to stay ahead into the future”, was one of the takeaway messages from the conference.
